Stability and optimization of queueing networks and their fluid models

چکیده
We describe some approaches to the synthesis of optimal policies for multiclass queueing network models based upon the close connection between stability of queueing networks and their associated fluid limit models. It is found that there is also a close connection between optimization of the network and optimal control of the far simpler fluid network model. This observation leads to a new class of scheduling policies that perform well on the examples considered.

Pareto Optimization of Two-element Wing Models with Morphing Flap Using Computational Fluid Dynamics, Grouped Method of Data handling Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms
A multi-objective optimization (MOO) of two-element wing models with morphing flap by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques, artificial neural networks (ANN), and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms (NSGA II), is performed in this paper. At first, the domain is solved numerically in various two-element wing models with morphing flap using CFD techniques and lift (L) and drag ...

متن کاملStabilizing Queueing Networks with Setups
For multiclass queueing networks, dispatch policies govern the assignment of servers to the jobs they process. Production policies perform the analogous task for queueing networks whose servers are subject to switch-over delays or setups, a model we refer to as setup networks. It is well known that a poorly chosen dispatch policy may lead to instability of a multiclass queueing network, even wh...
متن کاملStability of Open Multiclass Queueing Networks via Fluid Models
This paper surveys recent work on the stability of open multiclass queueing networks via fluid models. We recapitulate the stability result of Dai [8]. To facilitate study of the converse of the stability result, we distinguish between the notion of fluid limit and that of fluid solution. We define the stability region of a service discipline and the global stability region of a network. Exampl...
متن کاملThe ODE method for stability of skip-free Markov chains with applications to MCMC
Fluid limit techniques have become a central tool to analyze queueing networks over the last decade, with applications to performance analysis, simulation and optimization. In this paper, some of these techniques are extended to a general class of skip-free Markov chains. As in the case of queueing models, a fluid approximation is obtained by scaling time, space and the initial condition by a l...
